CLEVELAND — Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield tweeted Wednesday afternoon that his offseason shoulder surgery was a success as the quarterback is looking to bounce back from a rough 2021 season.
Mayfield was hampered by an injury to his non-throwing shoulder throughout the season, and was forced to wear a harness during games.
“Had a great medical team that took care of me and checked that box off to get this fixed and now it’s on the way to the road to recovery,” Mayfield said as he wore a sling on his left arm. “This is one of those steps to get back to my true self. This past year hasn’t been very easy. A lot of stuff went down. It wasn’t easy on me or my family.”
Mayfield said fans’ prayers and well wishes did not go unnoticed.
Despite his struggles in 2022, Browns GM Andrew Berry projects Mayfield to be the club’s starter in the fall.
The Browns said that Mayfield's rehab will take 4-6 months and the club hopes he can resume light throwing in April.
"He should be able to participate in the off-season program on limited basis while a full recovery is expected by the start of training camp," the Browns said in a statement.
