CLEVELAND — A Cuyahoga County grand jury issued 10 criminal counts in its indictment of Tamara McLoyd, 18, who is accused of killing Cleveland Police Officer Shane Bartek.

Prosecutor Michael O’Malley announced the indictment Friday afternoon.

McLoyd has been indicted on the following charges:

  • Two counts of aggravated murder
  • Two counts of murder
  • Two counts of felonious assault
  • One count of aggravated robbery
  • One count of grand theft
  • One count of having weapons under disability
  • One count of petty theft

City officials announced Wednesday that Bartek was determined to have died in the line of duty on Dec. 31.

The city previously said that Bartek was the victim of a carjacking. McLoyd had her bond set earlier this week at $5 million. Prosecutors are accusing McLoyd of killing the officer in the parking lot of an apartment building on Rocky River Drive.

Bartek was hired by the Cleveland Division of Police in August 2019. He was assigned to the Fifth District on the city’s northeast side.

Gov. Mike DeWine ordered flags throughout Ohio to be flown at half staff on Jan. 11 in honor of Bartek.
