After the Columbus Air Show went on hiatus in 2007, the show announced Tuesday that the Blue Angels will be part of its first show in 16 years. The show is scheduled for June 17-18 at Rickenbacker International Airport.

“We are excited beyond belief to host the U.S. Navy Blue Angels at our first air show back in Columbus,” said Herb Gillen, President of Herb Gillen Air Shows, producers of the event. “The Blues are known the world over for their high energy and precision flying.”

The Columbus Air Shows said the demonstration will feature six F/A-18 Super Hornets in the iconic blue and yellow Navy colors. The planes will maneuver at nearly the speed of sound, organizers said.

The Blue Angels has 34 shows on its schedule for 2022. For those who cannot wait for the Columbus Air Show in 2023, the Blue Angels are slated to perform at the Dayton Air Show on July 30-31, and the Cleveland Air Show, Sept. 3-5.
