COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium announced a new addition to its Asia Quest region: A baby langur.
Zoo officials wrote in a Facebook post that the mother langur, Darla, gave birth on Nov. 5 and that it's a girl. The care team reported Darla, the baby and the father, Thai, are all doing well.
"This birth marks Daria’s 8th baby (her second since arriving at the Columbus Zoo), and the 19th baby langur born at Zoo since the langur habitat opened in 2006," the zoo wrote.
Langurs can be found in India, Sri Lanka, Burma, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Guests can visit the langurs year-round at the Columbus Zoo, including the new baby. At birth, langurs have bright orange fur that eventually fades to a dark gray over the span of six months.
