Brown was favored to win the election after beating out Nina Turner in the primary election in August. Brown's campaign focused on her dedication to the people of the 11th district.
Brown is no stranger to politics. She serves on the Cuyahoga County City Council and is the chairwomen of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party, a position she said she will hold for now.
"Well, you know what, you can probably tell I'm not one who shies away from challenges, so I would really like to see what the workload will be," said Brown. "Something I would be willing to entertain. If it becomes too much, I'm happy to find a successor willing to take on this unpaid position."
As election results poured in and it was clear Brown would win, her family and friends gathered to celebrate. She spoke to them crediting her faith for getting her to where she is now and said she's excited to get to Washington.
"I say in the spirit of being a Democrat, they've rolled out the blue carpet. Many of them have already been treating me as a per so I'm just looking forward to connecting with them in the gallery and really casting a vote. I think I could be voting as early as Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning," said Brown.
