COLUMBUS, Ohio — Attending games at the Horseshoe will be much different than in years past.

What You Need To Know

  • Face coverings/masks will be required indoors

  • All tickets and parking will be digital via mobile passes

  • Everyone will pass through new metal detectors before entering Ohio Stadium

  • Concessions and other operations will be cashless

Technology and security upgrades are being implemented and COVID-19 protocols are being updated to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.

Ohio State University’s mask policy requires that all visitors wear masks indoors regardless of vaccination status. This includes pregame activities from Skull Session to travel on public transportation. Masks will not be required outdoors.

OSU Athletic Director Gene Smith said it’s important that fans are up to speed in advance of the home opener against Oregon.

“I want to make sure we encourage everyone to come early,” Smith said. “We also want to ask for patience because of that. It’s a noon kick again, we have construction everywhere, we’re implementing some new technology, please just be patient with all of the officers and operational people that will be trying to help everyone get into the game.”

Smith said the mask protocols are guidelines for all to stay healthy amid the pandemic, but if you feel uncomfortable he suggests you wear a mask if that’s what you would prefer.

“We want to encourage people to mask up, be safe, make sure that you’re not just protecting yourself but protecting others,” Smith said.

Ohio Stadium will be cashless this season and tickets and parking will be digital via mobile passes.

The university is recommending visitors download the Ohio State Buckeyes app that is available on iOS or Android devices.

The app will feature mobile ticket management, concessions ordering, venue mapping and free live audio of the game along with numerous other options.

Fans will also be required to walk through new metal detectors that will not require them to take anything out of their pockets.
