CLEVELAND — Many of northeast Ohio’s top places to visit have started mandating masks again as the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 continues to spike locally and nationally.
In recent days, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Cleveland Museum of Art and the Cleveland Public Library have required visitors to wear face coverings.
While public transportation and health institutions have maintained mask mandates throughout the summer, many spots dropped mandates. In May, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) changed its guidelines to say that in most situations, those who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 did not need to wear a mask.
The CDC later updated its guidance to recommend those fully vaccinated to resume wearing masks indoors where COVID-19 spread is high or substantial. As of Sunday, in all 88 Ohio counties, coronavirus spread was considered high by the CDC.
Here are some of the northeast Ohio attractions requiring masks regardless of vaccination status:
- Children’s Museum Cleveland
- Cleveland-Hopkins International Airport
- Cleveland Museum of Art
- Cleveland Natural History Museum
- Cleveland Public Library
- Cuyahoga County Public Library
- Great Lakes Science Center
- National First Ladies’ Library
- Playhouse Square
- Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
In addition, many schools, including Cleveland Metropolitan Schools, have mask mandates in place.
