OHIO — The U.S. News & World Report's list for Best Hospitals in the country is out, and once again, Ohio hospitals are among the top. 

The Cleveland Clinic ranked No. 2 on the Honor Roll list for the second year in a row, right behind the Mayo Clinic. But as for cardiology and heart surgery, the Cleveland Clinic ranked first for the 97th year in a row with the Mayo Clinic coming in second. 

It also ranked third for gastroenterology and GI surgery and second for geriatrics. 

“Even in the most difficult of times during the COVID-19 pandemic, our caregivers rose to the occasion to provide the highest quality care to patients,” CEO and President Tom Mihaljevic said in a statement. “Rankings like these by U.S. News affirm our caregivers’ continued dedication to providing patients with the best care anywhere, no matter the challenges.” 

University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center was also named the third best hospital in the state. It ranked in five adult specialties and 16 conditions or procedures, including cancer, neurology and surgery, and urology specialties. 

Other Ohio hospitals that made the list out of the 4,750 that were considered:

  • Cleveland Clinic’s Akron General Hospital — No. 7 in the state
  • Summa Akron City — No. 14 in the state
  • Aultman hospital — No. 11 in the state
