MAYFIELD VILLAGE, Ohio — Northeast Ohio-based Progressive Insurance announced this week plans to hire 6,400 additional workers through the end of 2021.
Progressive said that 3,000 of the jobs will be remote call center positions. An additional 2,900 workers will be hired to handle claims. These positions will include hybrid, in-office and remote work.
Three-hundred technology, 150 legal and 60 data and analytics positions are also among those open.
Presently, the company has 42,000 workers across the U.S. It is the country’s third-largest auto insurer.
Progressive Insurance chief human resource officer Lori Niederst said that most positions are filled internally.
"As we continue to grow our business, our people continue to grow their careers at Progressive,” Niederst said. “We consistently fill over 80% of our jobs above the entry level by promoting from within. You may come to Progressive for the job, but we're confident you'll stay for the career."
Progressive said it generated $42 million in revenue in 2020.
Progressive Insurance has nine office buildings in the Cleveland area.
Open positions are available on the company website.
