COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Crew's new home finally has a name: Lower.com Field.

Lower, a home finance company based out of New Albany, will collaborate with the Crew on several community-based initiatives as a focal point throughout the partnership, the Crew announced on Tuesday.

"Very few companies ever get to name a stadium, let alone a brand new one, in their hometown. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity,” said Lower CEO Dan Snyder in a press release. “On behalf of my partners and the entire team, we couldn’t be more excited to open up Lower.com Field to the city of Columbus on July 3.”

Lower will also be an associated partner for Give Forward, a platform of the Columbus Crew Foundation that serves challenged youth, and encourages healthy and positive lifestyles, according to the press release.

The Crew is set to play in the stadium for the first time July 3 against the New England Revolution. The site is still in the final stages of construction, but it's expected to house more than 20,000 fans in the stands.

“The opening of New Crew Stadium is all about creating an incredible experience for our supporters. Being able to provide this new level of energy and excitement to a full stadium of people who can share in this special moment together has always been a top priority,” said Steve Lyons, the Columbus Crew executive vice president and chief business officer.

All premium club, suites and loge boxes at the new stadium are sold out for the current season. Limited general seating 2021 season tickets are still available.

When the Crew welcomes fans to Lower.com Field, there will likely be no COVID-19 mandates, such as mask wearing and social distancing. The stadium will also be operating at full capacity.

The team has been playing at Historic Crew Stadium since 1999, and the opening of the new stadium will mirror the events that took place at the old stadium. The Revolution was also the Crew's first match at Historic Crew Stadium, and there will be fireworks afterward.

Close to $315 million was put into the construction of the new stadium.

The final game at Historic Crew Stadium will be Saturday against the Chicago Fire. Saturday's game will be the first since the 2020 home opener played with no capacity limitations.
