AKRON, Ohio — Marybeth Sullivan has always been interested in motor sports. 

Now, this year, for the first time, she’s testing her hand in “legend car racing” as a team owner. 

“Legend cars are a smaller scale chassis car that runs on a Yamaha motorcycle engine," Sullivan explained. "They run circle track much like NASCAR.” 

Sullivan is one of the few female team owners in the area. 

“Well I’m really proud to be a female race team owner," Sullivan said. "I'm really looking forward to making a name for us and hopefully inspiring other women to be involved in it.” 

Sullivan's boyfriend, Matthew Snyder, will be behind the wheel of their car this season. 

“I don’t have to worry about if I'm spending too much time with the race car because she knows," Snyder said. "She has been there, she has done that, and nine times out of 10, she is right there with me and there is not a lot she can’t do on this car herself.” 

Sullivan hopes to show other women who are interested in the sport that it’s possible to get involved.

“There is a million opportunities for ladies in motorsports now-a-days," Sullivan said. "There’s hundreds of drivers who are out there making names for themselves and there is big opportunities for ladies to go out and make a good living doing an absolutely fun job.
