LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Teenagers, you're up.
Beginning Monday in Louisville healthy 16-year-olds can register for a vaccine. Plenty of appointments are available according to UofL Health's Associate Chief Medical Officer Dr. Hugh Shoff.
“We have the ability to vaccinate up to 4000 at the mass-vaccine site as well as our locations that UofL Health has been running for vaccines and right now we still have a good number of appointments available," Dr. Shoff told reporters Monday.
Just a few weeks ago the age requirement for getting a vaccine was 50+ now high schoolers can get vaccinated. Dr. Shoff says UofL Health can handle an influx of appointments if that does happen.
Monday was a big day for Norton Healthcare as well as its clinics marked a milestone, 100,000 shots given..
“I can’t even believe that this has happened because the very first day we opened we had 500 patients and felt like that was a lot and now we’re doing more than 1,700 and I can’t believe the eagerness and excitement people have for this but they are coming in droves," Eagan said.
“I’ve been waiting, I’ve been waiting to get this done. My daughter is a nurse and she had hers and didn’t have any side effects and so I’m hoping for the same amount," a woman told us Monday.
Melissa Steineker says as of Monday her entire family is eligible for a shot. “My youngest son is 16 so we’ll probably get him vaccinated soon," Steineker saiid.
