Hill was shot and killed by Coy in the early morning hours of Dec. 22 at an Oberlin Drive home in the North Columbus Cranbrook neighborhood, according to authorities.

Coy, along with Columbus Officer Amy Detweiler, responded to a call about a car running on and off. Coy confronted Hill in the garage of his friend's house.

The shooting was captured on Coy's body-worn camera, but there is no audio with the footage. Coy claimed he mistook a silver keychain in Hill's hand for a firearm, his attorney argued. Investigators said they found no weapon at the scene and Hill had committed no crime.

Coy was indicted for murder in the commission of a felony, felonious assault, and two counts of dereliction of duty. He was released from detention on Feb. 9 when a judge lowered bond down from $3 million
