COLUMBUS, Ohio — Due to declining COVID-19 hospitalizations, Ohio's statewide curfew will move back to 11 p.m. starting Thursday, Gov. Mike DeWine's office announced Wednesday.

What You Need To Know

  • Ohio's statewide curfew will move back to 11 p.m. starting Thursday

  • The decision comes after COVID-19 hospitalizations have stayed below 3,500 for seven consecutive days

  • The current 10 p.m. curfew was originally enacted Nov. 17 as a three week measure

COVID-19 hospitalizations have stayed below 3,500 for seven consecutive days allowing officials to push the curfew back an hour, according to DeWine's office.

"I can confirm today’s hospitalization numbers triggered the policy the Governor announced yesterday. We will be issuing an order tonight or tomorrow morning that will move the curfew start time to 11:00 p.m. EST starting tomorrow (Thursday) night," said DeWine spokesman Dan Tierney.

Ohio Department of Health Director Stephanie McCloud signed the health order on Wednesday.

The statewide curfew, which began Nov. 19 as a three-week measure, had been 10 p.m.

DeWine extended the 10 p.m. curfew several times, including last week when he gave the first indication he was thinking about lifting it in the near future.

The new curfew hours will last through 12:01 p.m. on Feb 11, according to the health order.
