ADAMS COUNTY, Ohio — Officials announced they have found the body of missing worker Jamie Fitzgerald at the site of Killen Generating Station, which had a partial collapse Dec. 9.

"The loved ones and immediate family of Jamie Fitzgerald have been notified that he has been located at the Killen Generating Station site in Adams County, Ohio. First responders and federal officials have also been notified. Crews from the Adamo Group are currently working to safely recover him. More information will be announced as it becomes available," wrote Adamo Group in a statement.

Adamo Group is in charge of the demolition of Killen Generating Station.

Workers have been searching for Fitzgerald ever since the collapse. Three workers survived, and two, including Fitzgerald, died. The other was Doug gray, 42, of Greenup County, Kentucky.

Adamo group had to call in the New York-based engineering firm Thornton Tomasetti to assist in recovery efforts.

It's not known what caused the collapse. The Adams County Sheriff's Office said the roof caved in around 8:30 a.m., and the workers were there preparing the site for demolition.

Within the first few hours, three workers were rescued and transported to the hospital for their injuries. A day later, officials declared it a recovery mission.

OSHA is investigating the incident.

The Killen Generating Station began operations in 1982 and closed in March 2017 along with the J.M. Stuart Station due to financial and environmental challenges. AES Ohio Generation operated the plant, which is a subsidiary of the AES Corporation.
