CLEVELAND, Ohio — Cleveland Clinic pulmonary physician Dr. Shruti Gadre and her now husband Pulkit Chaudhury had planned on a large wedding out of state.

“When we realized we couldn’t get married in Boston, it was disappointing obviously because we had planned this big wedding. Family was gonna come from all over the world,” said Dr. Gadre.

Dr. Gadre’s colleagues helped plan the wedding for her. They decided to have the wedding on the rooftop of the Cleveland Clinic, where they first met.

“People have been fantastic. This moment of crisis has really brought out the best in everybody, really. People have gone above and beyond to help us, to support us,” said Dr. Chaudhury.

While they werent able to have the large wedding they planned, family members were still able to take part in their ceremony.

“Our friends and family who have traveled and who haven’t traveled and were able to join us virtually, have made this day really special for us,” said Dr. Gadre.

Dr. Gadre is treating COVID-19 patients with advanced lung disease. Dr. Chaudhury is finishing his training in Iowa and will join the Cleveland Clinic as a cardiologist later this summer.

“it’s been great. I’m glad to be married to the love of my life," said Dr. Chaudhury.
