CLEVELAND, Ohio — As hair salons have shut down across the country, many of them have become creative in serving their clients. One hairdresser in Northeast Ohio has a new business style to connect with the people who depend on her to make them look good.

For hairstylists like Hannah Jordan, clients can often feel like friends. When she had to shut her salon loft down, that feeling was confirmed.

  • She creates kits with customiized hair color and tutorials to teach clients how to touch up their roots themselves
  • She either drops off the kits or invites her clients to pick them up
  • She says she has felt so much love from her community

“You know, I've had some people who like, you know, have just reached out to ask if they can buy gift cards, which is so sweet. And then I've had people who have just been like, hey, I had an appointment today, I'm going to Venmo you what it would have cost for my appointment and what's so cool is we're seeing that in this community in general with stylists,” said Jordan.

Many appointments were quickly cancelled with no set date of when she could reopen.

“I was trying to think of ways that I could help everybody to my best capabilities because obviously like, I have I have 10 years behind me in this, so it's like really hard to say to someone like, hey, like, here's my 10 years' experience like in a five-minute video, or whatever, but I was like okay, how can I do this will best fit my clientele,” Jordan said.

She decided to create kits with customized hair color, along with tutorials to teach her clients how to touch up their roots at home.

She either drops the kit off to her client or invites them to pick it up.

“it’s been whatever is convenient for my client and also what makes them feel safest,” said Jordan.

She says she has felt so much love from her community.

“I really invite all of our hair stylists to do this because it just creates more of a bond with your clients and and you know, we all care. So, it's like, why not offer that extension to try and help make everybody feel beautiful at a time we're all kind of feeling down in the dumps anyway," she said.

And shes sending that love right back to them.

“So, it's really kind of cool to see how yes, this is separating people, but it's really bringing people together too."
