According to the Department of Natural Resources Ohio has a stable and healthy coyote population.
The animal can be found throughout cities, suburbs and farmland.
It is open season on coyotes, so as long as you have a valid hunting license you can hunt coyotes year-round.
They typically eat a variety of food, including small animals, so it may be smart to keep your pets inside if you believe you have a coyote that roams your property.
Karen Norris works for the Department of Natural Resources as the Assistant Wildlife Supervisor for Central Ohio.
"Remove all attractants," Norris said. "If you do have issues with coyotes, and you can allow hunting or trapping, by all means, contact local hunters and trappers because they would be very helpful in relieving and reducing the populaiton in certain areas."
Norris also said that if you cross paths with a coyote, to make yourself known by making loud noises and flashing lights to scare the animal away.
