KENTUCKY — On this week's "In Focus Kentucky" program, we’re highlighting Black History Month, which is celebrated each February. It is a federally recognized time to reflect on the significant roles that Black Americans played in shaping United States history.
State Rep. George Brown Jr., D-Lexington, joined this segment to raise awareness about the importance of celebrating and what it means to him, especially in the light of discussions surrounding efforts to end various diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs in Kentucky and across the country.
Rep. Brown also discussed one of his legislative priorities in Frankfort, House Bill 121, which includes a constitutional amendment that he is proposing during the 2025 legislation session that would remove a slavery exception from the Kentucky constitution.
