KENTUCKY — This week on "In Focus Kentucky," we’re celebrating Women’s History Month, a time to reflect on the contributions of women to U.S. history.

In 1981, Congress passed legislation that authorized the president to proclaim the week of March 7, 1982, as "Women's History Week"

Congress continued to pass resolutions designating a week in March as "Women's History Week" for five years. In 1987, Congress declared March as National Women's History Month in perpetuity.

Every year, the achievements of women in a variety of fields are celebrated for the contributions they're making to society, especially in career fields historically inaccessible to women.

State. Rep. Kimberly Poore Moser, R-Taylor Mill, joined this segment to discuss her work in the state legislature as Chair of the House Health Services Committee and her efforts to make sure women are in leadership and decision-making positions in Kentucky’s General Assembly in Frankfort.
