COLUMBUS, Ohio — Peaking at about 150 feet off the ground, you're bound to have a memorable experience at ZipZone Outdoor Adventures in Columbus.

ZipZone Outdoor Adventures Co-owner Lori Pingle opened the outdoor adventure park in August of 2012.

"We get lots of people out here that are scared and what I always tell people is if your desire to do the activity is more than your fear, then you’re going to be able to do it,” said Pingle.

Any anxiety or fears are easily put at ease with guidance from zip lining guides like Marcie Cano.

“Well, I have worked here for three years. I started in 2017. I was the lead zipline guide, lead M3 monitor, and a supervisor but then COVID hit," Cano said.

Cano said the pandemic changed everything. She left ZipZone Outdoor Adventures and "I found a job in retail, in a management position."

She did that for a year and made her way right back to the adventure park. Cano said she realized nothing compares to working outdoors and having fun on the job.

“People want to be here. That’s the difference! They’re coming out here because they want to enjoy an experience. They’re choosing to come out here. Other jobs, they can trickle through a bunch of different employees before they get to you and you’re kind of like the sounding board for them,” said Cano. “And fluorescent lights? Concrete floors? We’re out here with the natural light, in the woods, so it's just a happier environment."

Cano said her favorite part is feeling the rush of the breeze.

"You just feel free and I like to think I’m setting an example for any nervous guests that are behind me."

If you’re up for it, the zip lining guides will encourage you to challenge yourself along the tour, evening taking one line backward.

“We don’t pressure you to do it. If you don’t want to do it, you don’t do it. That’s cool. But, if you want to do it, that’s cool also,” she said.

ZipZone Outdoor Adventures also has a high ropes obstacle course and a kids park for those 4+. They will close for the winter the weekend after Thanksgiving and reopen in late March. For more information, you can visit https://zipzonetours.com/
