COLUMBUS, Ohio — The No. 8 seed Ohio State Buckeyes face off against the No. 9 seed Tennessee Volunteers in the first round of the College Football Playoff on Saturday night at Ohio Stadium in Columbus.
The Buckeyes’ finished the season 10-2, their losses were to unranked Michigan and No. 1 Oregon. The Volunteers went 10-2 and play in the SEC.
The winner earns an invitation to the Rose Bowl to take on No. 1 Oregon in the quarterfinals.
According to Tennessee Football, the Buckeyes and the Volunteers have only played once. Tennessee won the game 20-14 in the Florida Citrus Bowl on Jan. 1, 1996.
