CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Guardians have acquired outfielder Alfonsin Rosario from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for relief pitcher Eli Morgan, the team announced.

Rosario, 20, spent the 2024 season with Class-A Myrtle Beach. In 109 games, he hit .230 with 16 home runs and 73 runs batted in. He was selected by the Cubs in the sixth round of the 2023 MLB Draft.

Morgan, 28, spent the last four seasons with the Guardians. He held a 1.93 earned runs average in 32 games in Cleveland. He was selected by Cleveland in the eighth round of the 2017 MLB June Amateur Draft.

Guardians manager Stephen Vogt was named AL Manager of the Year by the MLB for 2024. The Guardians attained a 93-69 record and captured the AL Central crown in Vogt’s first season behind the bench.
