Head Coach Ryan Day said he’s seen tremendous growth in his team through this game
In its second road game and Big Ten matchup of the season, Day said he feels his team has made strides in a lot of important areas.
“This was an important game for us because I felt like Sept. 2, a month ago, when we played Minnesota, we were a much different team and I felt like that going into this week, but we hadn’t showed it yet. And I felt like we had some glimpses of that tonight,” Day said.
C.J. Stroud was back in the starting lineup after taking last week off to rest his shoulder.
The redshirt freshman said he felt better than ever against Rutgers and feels the Buckeyes could still be in the playoff mix.
“It really is Ohio against the world because everyone is counting us out right now, which is good," Stroud said. "Which I feel is a great thing because there’s a lot of really weird funky things going on around college football right now and it’s just preparing us to be great. We’ve got some adversity and a lot of teams haven’t seen adversity.”
Ohio State takes on Maryland next weekend for homecoming at Ohio Stadium.
