COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium announced it welcomed two penguin chicks, which hatched on Feb. 18 and Feb. 20.
The first chick was born by mom Big Bertha "BB" Cobblepot, and the second one is the child of mom Asela Bellfontaine.
These chicks are not yet visible to the public, as they must go through "penguin preschool," the zoo said. During that time, they gain confidence, strength and learn about life in the colony, such as how to dive and swim in deep water.
These chicks are the most recent addition to the zoo's family. On Sunday, the Columbus Zoo also shared photos of over 70 seahorses that were born in January and February. It marks nearly two years since the last seahorses were hatched, the zoo said.
The baby seahorses are also not yet in the public eye, as they must grow and prepare for a larger habitat first.
