CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Browns announced that Deshaun Watson underwent a second surgery on his right Achilles tendon rupture on Thursday.

Watson's injury took place during the team's Week 7 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He underwent his first surgery on Oct. 25.

Earlier this week Watson reported to the CrossCountry Mortgage Campus for his exit physical, part of the team's season-ending process, when he complained of discomfort after rolling his ankle in Miami.

He underwent an MRI which showed a re-rupture to his Achilles tendon.

The Browns said Watson's recovery time and return to play status is uncertain in a news release, noting, "he will likely miss significant time during the 2025 season."

Watson has only played in 19 games since signing a fully guaranteed five-year, $230 million contract with Cleveland in 2022.
