OHIO — The Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife announced plans to release 85,000 rainbow trout in Ohio lakes starting on March 13.
ODNR chose 95 stocking locations to release the fish from March to May. All locations and release dates can be found here.
ODNR said some stocking locations will feature a special event on the day of the scheduled release, such as youth-only fishing. ODNR said fishing at state youth ponds is only available for those 16 years old or younger for the first week after trout are released. After those seven days, the waters will be open to all through the end of April.
The ponds will then return to youth-only fishing on May 1 through the rest of the year.

ODNR said the trout don't usually survive through late spring as they are sensitive to warm temperatures, so the best time to get them is within two weeks of their release.
