Traditionally, thousands of people line up around the block for the event hours before it starts, eager for a taste of the concoction brewed with fresh ginger, cinnamon and honey.

Brewery officials said they expected this year to be their biggest first pour yet because it's the beer's 30th anniversary.

Katie Kasper, a Cleveland native, was excited to ring in the holiday season.

“We not only love Cleveland, but we love Christmas and we love Great Lakes beer," said Kasper. "So together, this is the perfect combination for all of us.”

For now, Christmas Ale lovers can only get the brew on draft at the Great Lakes Brewpub. Cans, bottles and kegs will be available in stores starting Monday, Oct. 24.
