CLEVELAND — Students on Cleveland’s east side got a special gift ahead of All-Star Game weekend.

What You Need To Know

  • Members of the East Technical High School boys and girls basketball teams all received free limited edition basketballs

  • The donation came from Bedrock and Complex Climate

  • It’s part of the The Land X Complex Shop Experience and “Love Letter to Cleveland"

Donell Cowan is a sophomore on The Mighty Golden Scarab’s basketball team. He was excited to get a custom made basketball from Bedrock.

“It feels good today because you know, we’re all a family and people that play sports can get to get together and do stuff like this and it just feels good,” said Cowan.

Students will be able to get their basketballs customized by The Land X Complex in Tower City downtown.

It’s not just an exciting opportunity for the players, but also those making the slam dunk gesture.

“I hope the students really see how valuable they are. We wanted to recognize their commitment, it’s been a really difficult two years for us all and these students have stuck with their studies, they’ve continued to come to school and really give it their all,” said Leona Medley, director of Strategic Community Partnerships for Bedrock

Donell Cowan said he’s looking forward to getting his name and number put on his custom basketball.
