CLEVELAND — MetroHeath announced Tuesday it is tightening its visitation policy due to a rise in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in the Cleveland area.
Starting Wednesday, adult non-COVID patients will be allowed just one visitor per day Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. and Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 11 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
The hospital said once the visitor leaves for the day, that visitor is not allowed back in. Visitors also must be age 18 or older, the hospital said.
The hospital said that exceptions can be made for end-of-life situations.
The hospital will continue to require visitors to wear masks at all times in the hospital.
“These steps are being taken to protect our patients, staff and community during this most recent surge,” MetroHealth said on Tuesday. “People are encouraged to get vaccinated and/or their booster shots, continue wearing masks indoors and practice social distancing.”
Both the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals recently updated their visitation policy with both hospitals limiting visits.
