TROTWOOD, OH - Hearts are heavy as many people living throughout the Dayton-area are still assessing the damage from multiple tornadoes. As recovery efforts continue, some residents have found a reason to smile.
A group of strangers connected through Facebook and met in the city of Trotwood to go door-to-door. They worked together to pick up debris and pile it along the sides of the streets.
Zach Sliver sent out the call.
"I put on Facebook that I wanted people to come out and I linked up with the people who did the exact same thing. I don't know half of these people out here, but we're all working together," he said.
Gregory Sudberry called out of work, so he could volunteer. Courtney Curtner said moments like this are why she's proud of her community.
"This is Dayton. This is why I love this place. This is my hometown. And people from all walks of life come together when we need to," she said.
