DAYTON, Ohio — An Ohio woman who was previously banned from working as a Medicaid provider pleaded guilty this week for defrauding the program, according to Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost's Office.
Janay Corbitt, 36, of Dayton, Ohio, stole $1.5 million from the program, according to Yost's office. She pleaded guilty to a second-degree felony theft and three third-degree felony counts of identity fraud.
Corbitt previously had a theft conviction in 2019, which led her to being barred from the Medicaid program, Yost's office said.
She was indicted in May 2024 after an investigation found she had stolen multiple identities, which she used to open and operate two fake behavioral health counseling agencies in the Dayton area. She also stole the identities of many licensed counselors and used their credentials to bill Medicaid for services that were never provided, Yost's office said.
Authorities arrested Corbitt in Aug. 2024 at a bus stop in Dallas, Texas, after she had fled Ohio.
Her sentencing is scheduled for April 17.
