COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State University announced it has added a game versus IUPUI to its 2021-22 men’s basketball schedule.

What You Need To Know

  • Ohio State will play IUPUI on Jan. 18

  • It is the third all-time meeting with the Jaguars

  • The Buckeyes and Jaguars both had three games this season canceled by COVID-19 issues

The university announced the Buckeyes will host IUPUI of the Horizon League at Value City Arena on Jan. 18 at 7 p.m.

The addition of the game with the Jaguars comes in a season where the Buckeyes canceled three games to end 2021 due to “player health and safety concerns within the Buckeye basketball program.”

Ohio State canceled its game in the CBS Sports Classic versus Kentucky on Dec. 18, and followed that cancelation by canceling its games on Dec. 21 versus Tennessee Martin and Dec. 28 versus New Orleans.

The Buckeyes have completed all three of their games in 2022 since the cancelations, but not without some missing personnel.

Ohio State coach Chris Holtmann and assistant coach Ryan Pedon missed Sunday’s Big Ten game versus Northwestern.

Assistant coach Jake Diebler filled in as acting head coach as the Buckeyes defeated Northwestern, 95-87.

IUPUI also had its share of problems with COVID-19. The Jaguars had to cancel games against Cleveland State on Dec. 30, Purdue Fort Wayne on Jan. 1 and Northern Kentucky on Jan. 6 due to positive COVID-19 cases within the program.

It is the third all-time meeting between the two teams and the first since Dec. 9, 2010.

IUPUI is currently 1-11 on the season and 0-3 in Horizon League play.

Ohio State plays at Wisconsin on Jan. 13 and host Penn State on Jan. 16 before hosting IUPUI.

The university announced the game will be included for season ticket holders and more information will sent to them by the ticket office via email. Tickets will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. on Jan. 11.
