  • Cincinnati has had an AFC Player of the Week seven times with four different winners

In Cincinnati’s 34-31 win versus Kansas City to claim the AFC North title, Chase had 11 receptions for 266 yards and three touchdowns.

Chase’s receiving total is an NFL rookie record and the most by any player in the 2021 season. He is the first rookie and the fifth player in the Super Bowl era to record multiple games with at least 200 receiving yards in a single season.

His 1,429 receiving yards in the season are the most by a rookie in NFL history.

Chase previously won AFC Offensive Player of the Week in Week 7 — the first Bengals wide receiver to win the award twice in one season. He and Pro Football Hall of Fame player Randy Moss, who won the award twice in 1998 for the NFC, are the only rookie wide receivers to earn the honor twice.

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow won the Week 16, making Chase and Burrow the first pair of teammates to win Offensive Player of the Week in consecutive weeks since Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen and wide receiver Stefon Diggs did in Weeks 15 and 16 in the 2020 season.

Bengals players who have won AFC Player of the Week awards in 2021 are:

Offensive Player of the Week
Joe Burrow, Quarterback – Weeks 4 and 16
Ja’Marr Chase, Wide receiver — Weeks 7 and 17
Joe Mixon, Running back — Week 1

Special Teams Player of the Week
Evan McPherson, Kicker — Weeks 1 and 11

Along with multiple other awards and nominations given to Bengals players in the 2021 season, Chase and Burrow were also nominated for the fan-vote awards Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week and FedEx Air Player of the Week, respectively. Burrow was announced as the winner of the FedEx Air Player of the Week on Wednesday for the second-consecutive week and fourth time in the 2021 season.

Chase also was awarded the Game Ball of the Week present by Wilson.

The Bengals finish the regular season Jan. 9 at Cleveland. They then will know their opponent for the playoffs.
