Having wrapped its first regular season under head coach Gerry McNamara, the Siena men's basketball team turns its attention to the postseason.

The Saints, finishing the season 14-17 and 9-11 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play, open the MAAC tournament Tuesday as the No. 9 seed. Siena faces No. 8 seed Rider at 6 p.m. in Atlantic City, N.J. The game will be streamed on ESPN Plus.

The teams met once in the regular season, with Rider (13-18, 9-11 MAAC) pulling out a 61-59 win in early February.

Siena closed its regular season with a 78-66 loss to Manhattan on Saturday. Despite the loss, freshman guard Gavin Doty was named the MAAC co-player of the Week with Fairfield's Prophet Johnson. Doty, who has played in all 31 games for Siena this season, is one of four Saints averaging double-figure scoring this season (11.2 ppg). He's also the Saints' leading rebounder with a little more than six boards per game.

The Siena-Rider winner Tuesday will advance to a quarterfinal matchup with top seed Quinnipiac on Wednesday evening. The MAAC tournament winner earns an automatic berth in the upcoming NCAA tournament field.
