WORCESTER, Mass. - Player call ups are an every day responsibility for a manager in minor league baseball. And, as the injury bug has hit Boston early this season, WooSox manager Chad Tracy has had to juggle his lineup early and often.
"The big difference this year is when it's happened. In the month of April, which is nobody's fault, it's just the injuries that we've endured at the major league level. When that happens, it's going to test, test their depth, it's going to test all of our depths as far as what we're able to handle," Tracy said.
He added constant communication with the managers at the other levels of the Red Sox system has been key.
"Yeah with the things that have gone on it's imperative. You know like there's just a lot of players going up, down and different directions and having, you know, communication with the other managers, Tracy said. "You don't want to put your players in that position, either, so that's an important piece of it when there's this much movement going on."
