Worcester police are investigating a fatal shooting.

Police say they responded to the area of 38 King Street shortly after 5:30 a.m. Monday for reports of gunshots. When they arrived, they found a 31-year-old man suffering from gunshot injuries. He was treated on scene and brought to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the victim was from Boston and not previously known to the department. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact police.
