WORCESTER, Mass. - 19 people are displaced following two recent fires in Worcester.

Shortly after 1 pm Wednesday, the Worcester Fire Department responded to a single alarm fire at an apartment building on Massasoit Road. Nine people were evacuated, with one resident taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Several hours later, firefighters responded to a two alarm fire at an apartment building on Louise Street.

Assistant Fire Chief Adam Roche said there was heavy fire on the building’s back porch upon arrival, and firefighters knocked down a wall to begin battling the blaze.

They searched all three floors of the building for people, but all ten residents inside the building had already self-evacuated safely.

Both fires remain under investigation.
