WORCESTER , Mass. - The Assumption Men's basketball team has won 11 games in a row.
The Hounds are red hot and ranked 24th in the NABC coaches poll. It's the first time Assumption has been ranked since January 2013.
Assumption was picked to finish 10th in the NE-10 preseason poll. The Greyhounds are in first place in the league right now. A big reason for their success has been their depth. They go 12 players deep, and often sub five in and five out like a hockey line.
"We're very deep. We play 10 guys, we're actually subbing five guys in and five guys out at a time," said head coach Scott Faucher. "We're very athletic. We apply a lot of ball pressure, we like to get the game going at our pace. And guys have really been buying into that so I think we've really been able to use our depth to our advantage. And so far to this point in the season, it's worked out really good for us."
"To be honest we have a really deep team. I feel like all 19 guys can suit up and play," said forward Daouda Dembele. "We have a great time off the court and on the court. Honestly we just want to see each other win no matter who's on the court. Some teams think our five in five out style is abnormal but it's working so stick to it."
Assumption is 11-2, 6-0 in the NE-10.
