UXBRIDGE, Mass. — A large pile of bricks and debris laid along the sidewalk and road in Uxbridge Thursday afternoon. The fire department confirmed a partial collapse of the building on South Main Street. They also say two people were sent to the hospital, but they are facing non-life threatening injuries. A number of businesses in this building were also forced to close on Thursday.

"We responded last night for a roof collapse about 9 p.m.," said Chief Thomas Dion. "And we were able to clear the building. So far, our early investigation looks like it was a load of water load on the roof. I mean, they're not going to be able to get through. So, there's detours at Oak Street, Mendon and Oak Street, which are bringing traffic around through north Uxbridge. If you can avoid the area, you'll save some time."

Former State Fire Marshal Peter Ostroskey was on scene Thursday getting drone footage. He says there's a sizable hole on the roof.

The fire department says their big question now is the safety of this building and whether or not people will be able to go back in it. Building inspectors and investigators were on scene on Thursday, and they're hoping to have an answer to that question in the near future.
