The Lost People Center Assistant Manager Theresa Williams runs the lost and found and says more than 1,000 items were recovered over the course of the 17-day fair.

"Wallets, cellphones, car keys, a few random items like vendor items that people have brought throughout the fair," said Williams. "We've gotten some backpacks that people have left behind that have come back and picked them up."

Williams said a guest looking to pick up a lost phone must unlock it first either in person or over the phone to prove it does in fact belong to them.

She said a license, or a photo ID is required to recover a lost credit card. But any credit cards in their possession after the fair are immediately destroyed.

"It's been pretty busy," she said. "Yesterday we took all of the licenses, and any wallet or purse that we had and mailed it to the address that was on the license so those were shipped out this morning."

Williams said its very easy for people to misplace items throughout the fair.

"We have people leaving stuff at vendor booths that get turned into us," she said. "Or if you stuff everything into your pockets throughout the day and as you're pulling stuff out one of them drops down and you lose it for the day. Kids kick their shoes off out of the carriage."

Williams said after Tuesday, any leftover belongings will no longer be kept at the center.

"After that we transfer all of our operations over to the Brooks Building," she said. "So people can still pick up their items even after we transfer it over to them and then we hold onto everything for a year."

Williams said The Lost People Center will donate any remaining items right before the start of next year's Big E.
