"It's exciting to be here during Chicopee Day," said Chicopee resident Leslie Ryan.
"I grew up in Chicopee way back when," said former Chicopee resident Mary Ann Alben. "We're not gonna say how many years, but it was a great time and it's all done. I'm at Cape Cod now."
Residents we spoke with spent part of their day Tuesday visiting the Massachusetts building, which features several businesses based in the western part of the state.
Chicopee's Koffee Kup Bakery was among those in attendance. The shop has been around for more than 70 years.
Owner Lisa Facente said coming to the Big E after many decades is an experience that continues to be special.
"We've been in the Massachusetts building for over 20 years now," Facente said. "And we get repeat customers year after year now, and we've become a staple for many households."
Fresh-filled cannoli, along with Boston cream pies and donuts are some of the many sweat treat's fairgoers can taste at the Chicopee bakery.
Facente said this year they're also celebrating 30 years of owning the shop, something she says wouldn't be possible without all the community support.
"The Chicopee residents have welcomed us with open arms, and we couldn't be more thankful," Facente said. "The mayor of the town as well, first responders all come and support us. We've been very blessed and like I said, we don't take it for granted."
And the honorary day celebrating all things Chicopee is more than enough to keep fairgoers coming back year after year.
"I just think it's exciting for them to do that," said Ryan.
"Oh, we just love it, that's why I came. Because it's Chicopee Day," said Alben.
The Big E will continue to run every day until Sunday.
