Cesar Gonzalez, Colin Larson and Ben Williams met each other during a college visit last fall, the three of them are quickly building chemistry on the field.

"It's exciting. Getting used to playing with each other," said Starfires pitcher and catcher Cesar Gonzalez.

"It's pretty cool to be playing with each other," said Starfires centerfielder Colin Larson. "We're going to be playing together for the next few years. So it's good to sort of warm up to each other [and] get a feel for each other."

"It's been a step up I would say the games a lot faster, everyone's better, everyone's good," said Starfires outfielder Ben Williams.  "At first it was kind of a shock but I feel like we're settling in right now and both of these guys are playing really well right now so it's been a smooth transition."

Larson is an outfielder and a native of Easthampton where he played baseball at Williston Northampton School.

Williams, also an outfielder and a native of New Hampshire, is a graduate of Avon Old Farms.

The three athletes say their baseball roots go all the way back to childhood days with family and friends.

"It came from my family," Gonzalez said. "Back home in Venezuela, I learned how to play from my dad."

"I started at an early age with Tee Ball and was even playing a little bit before that," Larson said. "My dad played college baseball. So I sort of got into  baseball because of him."

"It was kind of my own thing, to be honest," said Williams. "None of my parents played. I didn't have any siblings that played. I just started playing at a young age, and I fell in love with it. And one of my best friends growing up plays college baseball now. So we kind of grew up together just making each other better and stuff like that."

On Wednesday, the Starfires hosted the Worcester Bravehearts where they were able to come away with a 2-1 victory.

And while any win this season feels great, Larson, Gonzalez and Williams said they can't wait to continue their baseball journey together in college.

"There's a lot of talent between us three and the whole recruiting class," Larson said. "So I'm really looking forward to the future."

"It's just really exciting you know to be a part of this team and play with Colin and Ben," Gonzalez said.  "And getting to know each other."

"Especially Colin and I in the outfield, roaming around," Williams said.  'So that's probably how it's going to be at BC so getting a feel for how we like to play,  it's been fun."
