The call comes after more than 100 protestors were arrested earlier this week during at an encampment on campus.
The university said the UMass Amherst Police Department along with state police and other agencies arrested 132 people Tuesday night with around 70 being UMass Amherst Students some arrested are UMass Amherst faculty.
Students for Justice in Palestine member Malia Cole says the protest on campus was peaceful and was shocked by the police presence that came after.
"The cops came and I watched them as they brutally threw my friends to the ground," Cole said. "And I'm still honestly at a loss for words for what I witnessed that night."
Chancellor Reyes said in a statement the encampment was unauthorized and made the decision to have University Police clear the site for the safety and well-being of students and other members of the campus community.
Reyes said he has met with students, faulty, staff and other stakeholders since the incident to discuss the recent encampments.
Cole said her groups demands from the University are still the same as before.
"Complete and total divestment from Israel and war profiteers which specifically includes cutting all ties with Raytheon on this campus," she said. "Because Raythoen which is one of the largest weapon manufactures to Israel has incredibly deep ties to this campus."
Chancellor Reyes said he also met with the Faculty Senate Rules Committee after the incident Tuesday and plans to hold a special meeting of the Faculty Senate next week to discuss the events of Tuesday night.
Cole said the Students for Justice in Palestine UMass Amherst chapter does not believe Chancellor Reyes has been fair to their group to this point but said they will continue to speak out.
"I talk about the horrific experiences of witnessing this," she said. "My comrades who were arrested talk about the horrific experiences with the police and being tossed to the ground but all of know that our experiences could never compare those living in Palestine."
