WORCESTER, Mass. - The Assumption field hockey team, lead by head coach Annie Lahey, is in the national semifinals of the NCAA tournament.
Lahey won the NE-10 Coach of the Year this season for the third time. Her players say they love playing for her and she's a big reason for the team's success.
"Being a player under Coach Lahey is something I'm really proud of," said forward Elle Murray. "And her winning coach of the year for the third time is something. I just want to work hard and always do your best for her, it's something we do every practice."
"It's really awesome playing for Coach Lahey," said midfielder Marta Brzoska. "It's cool to have a coach that got NE-10 Coach of the Year for the third time. And she's really great, she knows what she is doing and she's the best coach I've had by far."
Assumption plays East Stroudsburg on Friday at 2 p.m. in the semifinals of the NCAA tournament.
