The results from Tuesday’s municipal election are in, meaning we now know who will be on the Worcester City Council and School Committee for the next two years. The estimated city-wide turnout was 21.9%.

City Council

The at-large members of the council will remain unchanged, with incumbents Joe Petty (13.2%), Kate Toomey (12.2%), Khrystian King (11.9%), Donna Colorio (10.4%), Morris Bergman (10.3%) and Thu Nguyen (9.2%) all winning reelection. Guillermo Creamer, Jr. (7.3%), Domenica Perrone (7.3%), Maydee Morales (7.1%), Bill Coleman (6.0%) and Johanna Hampton-Dance (5.2%) did not receive enough votes to be elected to the council.

In District 1, Jenny Pacillo defeated David Peterson, 61.1% to 38.9%. Pacillo will replace current councilor Sean Rose, who did not run for reelection.

Incumbent Candy Mero-Carlson will be the councilor for District 2, defeating Robert Bilotta 52.8% to 47.2%.

In District 3, incumbent George Russell defeated Feanna Jattan-Singh, 75.1% to 24.9%.

District 4’s new councilor will be Luis Ojeda, who defeated Katia Norford 52.3% to 47.7%. Incumbent Sarai Rivera did not seek reelection.

In District 5, incumbent Etel Haxhiaj defeated former world boxing chamption Jose Rivera, 51.3% to 48.7%.

School Committee

This was the first election in which the school committee had both at-large and district candidates.

The two at-large representatives will be former Worcester Public Schools superintendent Maureen Binienda and incumbent Susan Mailman, who got 33.9% and 26.2% of the vote respectively. They beat out incumbents Tracy O’Conell Novick (22.9%) and Laura Clancey (17.1%).

District A will be represented by Molly McCullough, who ran unopposed. District B’s representative will be Vanessa Zuleyma Alvarez, who was also unopposed.

The District C race was won by Dianna Biancheria, who beat Jermoh Kamara 58.4% to 41.6%.

Alejandro Guardiola will represent District D after running unopposed.

District E will be represented by Kathleen Roy, who beat Nelly Medina 51.6% to 48.4%.

District F’s representative will be Jermaine Lamont Johnson, who ran unopposed.
