EAST LONGMEADOW , Mass. - East Longmeadow residents can look forward to seeing a brand new high school in the future after the town voted Tuesday night to approve funding to construct a new building.

The town also voted to provide funding for a new high school natatorium, which is where an indoor pool will be housed. School Committee Chair Gregory Thompson told Spectrum News 1 in March a new building would likely cost a least $100 million.

The current East Longmeadow High School building is around 60 years old and has dealt with several roof leaks around the schools skylights, as well as issues with electricity and ventilation.

East Longmeadow officials told Spectrum News they're not sure yet when the project will start or how much it will cost taxpayers, but can expect an update in the near future.
