The 87-year-old Chicopee resident plays for the Western Mass Relics Senior Softball League.
He was on the field with his teammates at Polar Park on Saturday and needed his glove to catch a ceremonial first pitch.
"And at the ballpark," Holcomb said. "When I was leaving, I set it on the bench outside of the ballpark area, and I get up off the bench to get into my transportation for my ride back home and I left my glove behind."
Holcomb said softball has long been a big parts of his life.
"I started back in 1960," he said. "[I] payed after I got out of high school. I played until roughly 1980, and then I went back to playing again in 1998, 1997."
Holcomb loves the sport, but he also really loves his missing mitt.
He bought it in 2000, and he's been using on the diamond for the last 23 years.
Although health issues have made it difficult for him to play this year, he said getting his glove back would mean everything.
"I have too many memories with it," he said. "Too many memories. Right now, this year my participation on the playing field has been limited."
The Worcester Red Sox say staff members say haven’t found the glove yet.
Holcomb asks anyone who may have picked it up to return it to the ballpark.
