WORCESTER, Mass. - The Worcester Academy pitching staff has been key to the Hilltoppers' success this season.
The short guy on the staff is 6' 5", so it's a tall and talented group, and one of the best in New England, and maybe the whole country. The pitchers take a lot of pride in leading the way for the team to victory.
"I think it's huge for our team having that stability on the mound," said pitcher T.J. Power. "Obviously our staff is super strong, a lot of big time arms. And I think this year we've done a good job of just throwing strikes, getting ahead in counts and making teams try to beat us at the plate."
"Definitely, our pitching staff is unreal," said pitcher Mavrick Rizy. "Like, best in New England and some could argue best in the country. I think every guy knows what they need to do. I think our goal this year was to throw strikes, make guys beat us at the plate. I think we've done a great job of that so far."
Worcester Academy is 11-2 on the season and plays Cushing on Saturday in their final game before the playoffs. If they win, they will host the semifinals and finals on Sunday May 21.
