WORCESTER, Mass. - Worcester State University Men's hockey captain Drew Eid has overcome a lot during his time with the Lancers, there have been multiple shoulder injuries, and surgery to both shoulders, but the biggest blow was losing him Mom Lisa to lung cancer his Sophomore year. "My mom drove me to every practice, she was an immense part of my hockey career,"  said Eid, "I can't believe I convinced her to do this, bu drive me to New Hampshire from Portland Maine every day to play for a AAA team, growing up Pee-Wees, Bantams, Midgets, so her sacrifice for my hockey career was something I will never ever forget.  She was the ultimate role model, she was the ultimate parent, she was my ultimate cheerleader.'

Going through everything he has had to endure and still putting others first has been inspiring to his teamates, "it's such an inspiration not only for his friends,"  said Captain Brian Clougherty, "but for the whole world to see what he's been through."

"Drew's a very nice kid, very helpful,"  said Captain Cody Porcello, "right when I came in Freshman year he reached out to all of us, just very welcoming, open arms, great guy to lead with."

Heart, empathy and character are three traits Drew has in abundance, he makes the lives better of his teamates, family and friends all the while carrying on his mom's love and legacy.
